With all of the controversy over the new health care reform bill spinning the country into chaos, here at Cocoon Urban Day Spa we would like to take a step back and focus on a Holistic approach to health care. We all have the power to maintain our own health and wellness. Responsibility for your health lies largely with you. Manageable lifestyle factors are the major determinants of health and disease.
The Mechanic and the Gardener
Some scientists use the "mechanic and the gardener" as a metaphor to describe the difference between the Western health care system and Holistic Health. Western medicine is the mechanic, who repairs things when they become broken. In contrast, the gardener, (Holistic Health) repairs and maintains the well being of things constantly so that they don't become broken or wilted.
Making healthy decisions in our everyday life is the key to maintaining health and avoiding disease and illness. A large part of this is managing our stress levels. Having a way to relieve the stresses of everyday life is essential in maintaining a healthy body and mind. Cocoon Urban Day Spa’s Yoga Coordinator Maya Ramsay has enlisted the help of a renowned sommelier to carefully select wines and develop a unique and exciting workshop.
The Yoga/Wine/Chocolate and cheese workshop at Cocoon will begin with a carefully customized yoga practice, set to great live music.
Followed by a wine tasting paired with a unique variety of cheeses from local cheese artisans as well as chocolate from TCHO and a few others. You will taste the rich flavors and textures of these carefully selected foods, more fully than you ever thought possible… Heaven…. And a perfect way to celebrate Valentines Day. |
